Japanese ALS association.
Each part and activity introduction.
1. Research and Planning Department.
Concerning with the social awareness of ALS increasing , that an association grasps the basic data about ALS has deepened importance.
In this section, investigation which grasps the enforcement situation of suction of the phlegm by a helper is conducted. Moreover, it cooperates in the investigation about offer of the safe living environment of elderly people with an advanced disease by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the investigation about decision making of the medical treatment method based on informed consent, etc.
2. Education public relations section.
Education campaign activity to the society about ALS is performed.
3 times of the bulletins per year "JALSA" are published. Creation of website, and updating and management of a mailing list are carried out. It has responded also to the lecturer to a seminar and panelist dispatch which are performed the correspondence to mass-communications coverage, and within and without an association.
3. Research support part.
Grants for encouragement of research are provided to the research which specialized in ALS about a sick cause investigation and cure establishment.
We have the original committee which concentrated the specialist of various fields, in order to examine the validity of research.
In addition, participate in the research group meeting debrief session of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare related to ALS, cooperation in ALS genomics is carried out, or it is engaged in utilization of special intention transfer equipment.
Moreover, the support activities by these grants for encouragement of research became the beginning of the development success of the automatic suction apparatus of phlegm.
4. Organization Foreign Affairs Department.
The exchange with the correspondence to the disabled person independence supporting method problem, the promotion of suction of the phlegm by a helper, home-visit nursing care program promotion model enterprise realization, and an incurable disease organization disabled person organization and an international ALS association organization, examination of incorporation, etc. are the subjects of this section.
5. Medical-treatment support part.
As medical-treatment support service to a patient and a family, school holding of the suction technology of phlegm and intention transfer equipment use assistance are offered, and also it participates in the special disease QOL research group of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, or a local support organization construction group. Management of an ALS consultation room, edit of an ALS care book and issue, opinion participation to the institutional reform relevant to ALS, etc. are performed.
6. Specially set-up committee.
The specially set-up committee united with the theme which requires examination as an association besides each part meeting activity to 1-5 is working.
