1. Outline of Japan ALS Association

Focusing on the patient and family who fight with ALS, a bereaved family, a medical specialist and a medical staff, and general volunteers gathered, and the Japan ALS Association was established in 1986 (Showa 61). It is a nonprofit organization which supports an ALS patient and a family and does not belong to a specific religion or a specific political organization improvement in an ALS patient's recuperation, and for the purpose of establishment of a cure. The first chairman at the time of establishment is Mr. Takehisa Kawaguchi (patient), the director is Mr. Yukio Matsuoka (general), and all are the deceaseds now. We will celebrate the 20th anniversary of foundation in 2006. And the branch of the whole country founded in these 20 years counts 34, and the membership counts about 6,800 persons.

2. Statement of principles

- face a remarkable change of a social situation. -

What we are asking for consistently is the establishment of medical treatment and welfare organization for ALS patients, and the development of the cause investigation and the cure for ALS in which a patient can receive medical treatment in comfort.
